Paper covered embellishments from counters

Embellishments are so expensive here in the UK, especially the ones that go with the paper collections so I thought I would try and make my own.  I thought about using buttons but I find these can be too bulky in my project life albums so I wanted something a little flatter to use.  I came up with the idea of using counters and luckily I had an old jar full of them!  So using some different size counters and the scraps I had left from a Simple Stories Christmas collection I gave it a whirl.

I cut out a circle of paper big enough to cover the counter and fold over.  Then i glued the counter to the middle of the paper.

Around the outside of the paper I cut little grooves in and manipulated the paper with my fingers back and forth to break down the paper fibres so that it was easier to fold over.

I glued around the outside of the paper and folded it around the counter as tight as I could to form the shape of th counter.

I repeated the procedure with each one of the counters.  I am happy with the way they have turned out and think that next time I will try with fabric.
